610bhp for the price of a family hatchback
There’s an old saying about not needing a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. The idea being that some tasks require more delicacy, and simply applying the maximum amount of power and brute force is frequently overkill.
Sometimes, though, using a metaphorical sledgehammer to crack a walnut is just fun. Which brings us nicely to these two cars.
Neither of this week’s cars could be described as in any way subtle. They are both among the fiercest, most brutal, most savage cars that Germany has to offer. They are available in any colour you want – as long as you want black – and they offer more power than could ever be fully exploited on public roads.
And they are both awesome in their own completely different sledgehammer-like way.
The first is a Porsche Cayenne 4.8 Turbo S in stunning matte black. Not every car can wear matte black properly, but this one definitely can. The Cayenne weighs more than two tonnes, and that screaming, thunderous, 4.8-litre V8 engine makes it deceptively quick.
Few cars have as much road presence as this monster – but it’s a great cruiser and eater of motorway miles as well. Click the link above for the full, incredible spec list.
Mercedes F1 CL55 AMG – Black Edition
The second is this incredible Mercedes F1 CL55 AMG Black edition. Boasting a staggering 610bhp and a 0-60 time that would worry many supercars, this is an incredible machine. Amazing luxury, staggering pace and a jet-black stealth look. Available now for the price of a new medium-sized family hatchback.
