#Lovedriving with webuycarsformore.com – Kirkstone Pass
We switch our attention to the Lake District for the latest edition of #lovedriving with webuycarsformore.com, and the fantastic Kirkstone Pass.
This is another tight country road that requires utmost concentration, and on the way up features a considerable ascent – it reaches an altitude of 1,489 feet, making it the highest pass in the Lake District that is open to cars.
However, we recommend going both ways on the road as the downwards journey is spectacular – the road has low borders so you have good visibility around the corners, and sweeping, comfortable bends that offer plenty of thrills at any speed.
Perhaps build it into your journey to and from a holiday in the Lake District? The homeward-bound journey would certainly take the shine off the fact your holiday was reaching an end.
As always, drive carefully and within both your limits, and the speed limit.
Kirkstone Pass
The Kirkstone Pass is the A592 from Windermere to Ullswater. Join it from Penrith, Windermere or Ambleside (via the A591).
Fancy the perfect car to tackle the Kirkstone pass?
We’ve given this some thought, and really, you want a vehicle that’ll soak up everything that the Lake District can chuck at you – including highly unpredictable weather
Therefore, for the Kirkstone Pass, we’ve gone for this magnificent Range Rover Sport. Its 3.6 V8 diesel has bundles of torque to spare, so it’ll despatch even the steepest sections of this challenging road without breaking a sweat.
It’ll give you great visibility around those tight bends, will be as sure-footed as a mountain goat, and if you take a wrong turning and end up on a farm track, it won’t skip a beat. Maybe watch those alloys, though…
